Lava Stone

Lava stone and lava beads are made from basalt, a lightweight and porous material that’s created during a volcanic eruption. Their interesting texture—due to the holes and bubbles created by the explosive eruption—makes these beads perfect for creating pieces of jewelry like earrings, pins and broaches, and necklaces. Lava beads were first worn in jewelry form by Italians in the 19th century from lava from the volcano Vesuvius.
